I was listening to The Heart of Saturday Night (the album) at work today, and San Diego Serenade, not surprisingly, popped up, and I listened to it. I must say, I've given this album as many listens as any TW record (other than maybe Blue Valentines), and never really listened to the song all that hard. But it's good. Really good. I've been trying to write a decent song (that wasn't hateful, bitter, mushy, or hackneyed) about a girl for a while, and it's damn difficult to do, and maybe that's why I listened closer than in the past. Also, I'm at work, and there isn't much of interest here to distract me. Anyway, I'm starting to realize how hard it is to write a good song, and that's definately a good song. Well played.
